Happy New Year!

New Year’s is a cyclical reminder of fresh starts, new goals and a sense of renewal. A new year’s resolution emits these intense emotions of hope of what we want to achieve. What hopes and goals would you want to achieve in the new year?

This year my resolution is...  not to set a resolution. Most of us are super excited to start a new year fresh with new goals. What we fail to realize is that achieving goals takes a lot of hard work and time, and realistic expectations. The excitement of setting goals provides us with a sense of euphoria and when the buzz wears off, we're left feeling like we failed. How to set realistic expectations involves:

1. Breaking down goals into manageable and achievable goals. If you want to be healthy, focus on what you need to do and feel to achieve that, don't just focus on the outcome

2. Plan for your goals. schedule it in, make time for it. Make it a part of your routine. If it’s not built into what you do, then it will be a lot harder to achieve

3. Be kind to yourself. if you aren't able to meet your plan for the week then don't think of it as a failure. Be kind today and plan for tomorrow

Moving forward, we’ll be breaking our goals down into manageable portions! Stay tuned! And if you do need help turning your goals into smaller portions, feel free to email us at info@hope4therapy.com.
